Tiit Kalluste
Estonia

His activities as an improviser and a jazz musician with a unique musical vernacular have opened up a completely new facet in the Estonian accordion history. He has introduced accordion into ensembles playing improvisational music and jazz, and is a sought-after guest musician in groups specializing in these types of music both in Estonia and abroad.

Starting out with classical jazz at the 1982 student festival Tudengijazz, Tiit has over the years found his own musical handwriting, in tune with the Nordic state of mind. In collaboration with the saxophonist Villu Veski, Tiit leads two extraordinary projects - NordicSounds and Jazz'n'Tango. He has his own jazz group Tiit Kalluste Jump Band and is in addition working with many singers and projects. Tiit has toured all over Europe, but also in Russia, Argentina, Mexico, Canada and China with some of the best Estonian jazz musicians and international partners.

Tiit Kalluste has been writing music for various settings, from solo instruments to jazz bands and symphony orchestras. His original music has been released on a number of albums. He has composed music for Estonian and international TV shows and feature films.

Tiit teaches in the jazz department of Georg Ots Music School and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and has also lead many workshops both in Estonia and abroad.
