Biography / Biographie : Ave Paulus (Tartu University) is the president of ICOMOS Estonia, a member of several scientific committtees. She is an expert member of the UNESCO World Heritage and Climate panel. She is a senior specialist for cultural heritage issues in the Ministry of Climate of Estonia and a Board member of Lahemaa and Alutaguse National Parks Cooperation Councils. She has master’s degrees from the Estonian Academy of Arts (heritage conservation and restoration) and Tartu University (semiotics and theory of culture). Her doctoral thesis relates to the topic of community-based heritage protection and rights. She has coordinated cooperation between heritage communities, states, and universities in more than 30 development projects concerning cultural heritage and arts, including the Creative Europe Areas of Inspiration project. Paulus has written many articles and presented her research results at many national and international scientific events and papers.
