Bodø 2024 and Tartu 2024 cultural capitals deal with the themes of the importance of culture. Tartu 2024 subtitle is “The arts of survival”, and Bodø is about “ARCTICulations”. The themes are related to the interrelations between past and future, cultures, environment and climate change. Tartu-Bodø dialogues hope to get a deeper understanding of the variety of issues heritage is tackling in the face of rapid climate change via very concrete Nordland and South Estonian communities, perspectives, their knowledge, practices and livelihoods. The seminar concentrates on the holistic approach to heritage - including traditional communities and livelihoods, inland and maritime landscape changes and challenges, and art created in these areas. The seminar will focus specifically on local communities, concrete capacities, and actions on holistic heritage management in village locations and cultures of Setomaa and Nordland, Estonia, and Norway, as well as on their resistance and solutions to tackling climate issues. The seminar is part of the kick-off activities of the Tartu-Bodö Heritage Dialogues project.
